In short: Is it worth it? Yes!
From the website, it seemed almost impossible to get a seat. We decided to walk in anyway, and luckily they had a waiting list which moved fairly quickly.
We ordered a variety of dishes. Some could be improved; the squid wasn’t really to my taste. However, the grilled pork was AMAZING, and I would definitely come back just for that.
The service was easygoing, quick, and friendly.

Best food in Lisbon! I walked over and hour round trip and it was absolutely worth it (but I’d take a cab next time). I got there early and the waitlist was full, so definitely make reservations. The staff helped me get a table and was abundantly helpful, respectful, and fun. You have to eat here if you are in Portugal!

A MUST visit!
We went as soon as it opened and it was packed already so decided to put our name on the wait list, wait over an hour and give it a chance – and we are so glad we did. The chicken heart and grape dish was lovely, meaty yet delicate. The duck rice is a must order, it was one of the nicest things I’ve ever eaten. The staff were all super friendly and set the mood for a lovely meal and experience.
Put your name on the wait list, order a drink and wait for your table – it’s worth every minute.

The extraordinary lunch I enjoyed at O Velho Eurico was nothing short of a creative, risk-taking work of art. Bravo to the cooks at this restaurant and thank you to the staff for such attentive, patient, and kind service.
While we were not big fans of the mussels in escabeche, I can’t help but applaud the courage required for conceiving and serving such a bold dish – bravo. The chicken hearts were delightfully tender and depthful in flavor. The duck rice was a joyful revelation at every bite, from beginning to end. But the squid was perhaps the best squid I’ve enjoyed in my entire life – perfectly cooked, balanced flavors, delicious in its simplicity. For dessert, the leite creme had a yummy interior but the caramelized sugar top appeared to be overcaramelized, ultimately leaving a burnt propane taste in our mouths. However, the rest of the food was so remarkable that the dessert didn’t even matter.
The meal we shared at O Velho Eurico was one of those meals that I will be thinking about for a long, long time. While we initially waited an hour for a table, this unassuming restaurant with its lively music, chalkboard menus, and eclectic plates were well worth the wait. I someday hope to have the honor of returning to O Velho Eurico.

Everything about this restaurant is exceptional except for the long wait to get in. It’s so popular that the reservations were booked out until the next month. We tried to get a walk in table. We had to wait 2 hours for a table. BUT once we did get a table and had the food all was forgiven. The food was so delicious! Go here if you have a night to wait for a table. The food is worth it if you’re happy to wait. Once you’re in, the service and atmosphere is excellent. You can also order snacks and drinks while you’re waiting outside.
